Kalbarri Skywalk / Kaju Yatka

Kalbarri Skywalk (Kaju Yatka) is a pair of built lookouts about 100 m above the Murchison gorge. It is the busy inland stop for people who should not do the Loop — and it is not a second paid attraction.
Inland vehicle entry applies. Coastal sites are a different, generally free system. Confirm hours on Explore Parks WA; they have varied. A social post that says “Skywalk tickets sold out” is usually mixing this precinct with something else.
This is unofficial practical guidance. Hours, access notes and fees change. Verify the official Skywalk page the morning you go.
What the Skywalk is — and is not

Kaju Yatka is two cantilever platforms on formed paths. You do not need a hard walk to get the view. That is why mixed-ability groups and first-timers start here.
It is not a ride, not a separate paid attraction, and not a substitute for official alerts. If a tour desk or Instagram caption implies a second ticket, check Explore Parks WA before you pay anyone.
Don’t mix inland and coastal fees
Pay the inland day vehicle fee at the Loop/Z-Bend station (or display a holiday/annual pass). Walking or cycling in is the official no-fee exception. Do not buy a random “Skywalk ticket” from a reseller.
Coastal cliff sites south of town are generally free. Nature’s Window, the Loop, Z-Bend, Hawk’s Head, Ross Graham and Meanarra sit on the paid inland system. One park, two products.

Hours, access and vans
Visitor-centre notes have mentioned limited hours on some dates. Treat remembered opening times as stale. Confirm the official Skywalk page and alerts the morning you go.
Same inland sealed road as Nature’s Window. Caravans and trailers are not permitted. Unhitch in Kalbarri. No dogs. No drinking water — fill bottles in town.
If the platforms are closed, Nature’s Window lookout paths, Meanarra Hill or the coast still make a day. Do not invent a gorge-floor walk as compensation in heat.
How to visit without melting the morning
Arrive early in school holidays and August–October. Walk both platforms. Stay behind barriers. The surrounding cliffs are not extra viewing decks.
A hat and water still matter on exposed steel and sandstone. “Easy” is not “shade.” Supervise children — this is still a cliff.
Toilets are typically better here than at some lookouts. Confirm on-site. Use them before you add Nature’s Window.
Pairing with the Window — and what not to add
A strong first inland morning is Skywalk plus Nature’s Window (turn back at the arch), then lunch in town or a coastal afternoon.
Do not add the full Loop after a long Skywalk photo session in rising heat. Do not treat Skywalk as a warm-up for Four Ways. One icon plus one short walk is enough.
Crowds and parking
This is the high-volume inland stop. Midday in peak season is coaches, school groups and full bays. Early morning is calmer and cooler.
If the carpark is full, do not invent parking on vegetation. Come back later or switch to Meanarra or the coast. Circling in heat wastes the morning you needed for the Window.

Can I take a caravan to the Skywalk?
No. Caravans and trailers are not permitted on inland gorge roads. Unhitch in Kalbarri town.
Is the Skywalk open every day?
Hours have varied. Confirm the official Skywalk page and park alerts the morning you go. Do not rely on a remembered “always open.”
Do I need to book the Skywalk?
You do not book a Skywalk ticket. You pay (or display) inland vehicle entry unless you walk or cycle in. Coastal lookouts are a different, generally free system.
