These plans are built for real Kalbarri logistics — inland vs coastal fees, unhitching the van, no camping in the park, heat and the Loop 7 am rule — not fantasy “Loop plus Four Ways plus the whole coast before lunch” checklists. Every itinerary defers to Explore Parks WA / DBCA for track status, heat-closure hours and alerts. Hard gorge walks only appear where the plan names them — and only when official status is open.
Which plan fits you?
- Inland icons day — first visit: Skywalk + Nature’s Window (turn back). No Loop unless the group is cool, early and honest.
- Coastal cliffs day — van still hitched, heat, sunset, whale season. Generally free. Stay on boardwalks.
- Two–three day mix — the realistic first stay. Perth is 6–7.5 hours; do not pretend this is a Sydney-style day trip.
- Loop-focus morning — one 9 km gorge circuit. Skip Skywalk photos first. Nov–Mar: before 7 am or do not start.
- Hot weather / summer — lookouts and coast. Assume the Loop is closed after 7 am. Town shade at midday.
If two plans both “sound good,” pick the shorter one. You can always add a lookout on the ground; you cannot invent cool hours in a 50 °C gorge.
Full day from Kalbarri town (cool hours heavy)
Inland icons day: Skywalk + Nature’s Window
Best for: First-timers who want the two inland postcards without the full Loop
Early inland drive, pay the gorge day fee, Kalbarri Skywalk then Nature’s Window (turn back at the arch). Optional Z-Bend lookout if energy remains. No Loop unless the group is cool, early and honest.

Half to full day south of Kalbarri town
Coastal cliffs day: Natural Bridge & lookouts
Best for: Caravan travellers, heat days, whale season, anyone skipping inland fees
Generally free coastal strip: Natural Bridge, Island Rock, Red Bluff, Eagle Gorge, optional Bigurda sections. Wave surge is the rule. Not a substitute for Nature’s Window — a different park.

2–3 days based in Kalbarri
Two–three day mix: inland + coast + wildflowers
Best for: The realistic first stay — not a Perth day trip
Day 1 inland icons. Day 2 either Loop (cool season / pre-7 am) or Z-Bend lookout + coast. Day 3 wildflowers or a quiet Ross Graham / Meanarra morning. Perth is 6–7.5 hours each way — do not pretend this is a Sydney-style day trip.

Loop-focus morning
Best for: Fit walkers treating the 9 km Loop as the day’s only hard objective
Early-start Loop with a clear turnaround at Nature’s Window. Skip Skywalk photos first. Recover in town afterwards. Nov–Mar: on trail before 7 am or don’t start.

Lookouts and coast — skip hard gorges
Hot weather / summer plan
Best for: November–April visits, families, anyone arriving late
Assume the Loop is closed after 7 am (Nov–Mar). Prefer Skywalk (if open), Window-only if you beat the heat, coastal boardwalks, Ross Graham, Meanarra. Inland may close entirely in extreme heat or goat control — verify.
