4. Inland vs coastal fees
A. Inland gorges — paid
☐ Window, Loop, Skywalk, Z-Bend
☐ Hawk’s Head, Ross Graham, Meanarra
☐ Two entry stations (different roads)
☐ Holiday / annual passes: shop.dbca.wa.gov.au
B. Coastal cliffs — generally free
☐ No inland pass required [VERIFY live]
☐ Don’t treat this as the same ticket as the Window
☐ More suitable for caravans than gorge roads
☐ Main risk: wave surge and undercut rock
5. Heat, Loop rule and seasons
Heat is the biggest inland danger. Official: gorge temperatures can reach 50 °C. Hike early.
Drink about 1 litre per person per hour. The Loop Trail is closed after 7 am from November to March inclusive.
Inland roads can close in extreme heat or for goat control (often early February — verify via 08 9937 1140 /
alerts).
Cooler months (about May–October)Best walking window. Still start early. Wildflowers often peak August–October (moves with rain).
November–MarchLoop after 7 am is closed. Multi-day gorge walking is banned. Lookouts and the coast are the usual day.
Whale season (about June–November)Watch from coastal cliff paths — not from the water’s edge.
