Use this when inland roads are too hot, you have a van you will not unhitch, or you want sunset sandstone without gorge descents.
Confirm coastal sites remain free-entry on the day. Stay on signed paths. The pink lake is a separate regional stop — not a National Park site.
Success is boardwalks and lookouts, not a scramble to the water. King waves and surge have killed people on this coast.

Night before
Name the lookouts and the skip list
Primary = Natural Bridge + Island Rock. Optional = Red Bluff or Eagle Gorge. Bigurda only if you already have a two-car shuffle written down. Fill water. Hats with cords.

Town supplies · no inland pass needed
Water and fuel in Kalbarri. You are not using the Loop/Z-Bend entry station unless you add inland later. Coastal cliff sites are generally free — verify live.
08:30–10:30
Natural Bridge & Island Rock
Boardwalks and lookouts only. Do not scramble to the water. If spray is reaching the path, reverse. Wind can be fierce.
10:45–12:30
Red Bluff / Eagle Gorge / Pot Alley
Pick one or two signed lookouts. Skip if swell is throwing spray onto paths. Park in signed bays — do not block turning circles with a van.
Afternoon
Town rest or whale watch from the cliff
Roughly June–November for whales — binoculars from the path, not the water’s edge. Optional Hutt Lagoon side trip (not the National Park).
Sunset (optional)
One lookout, then off unofficial rock
Red sandstone at last light is the photography win. Be back on formed paths before dark. Coastal is not a swimming-beach plan.

- Water — coastal still has no tap
- Wind layer — hats need cords
- SPF + sun hat
- Binoculars (whale season)
- Shoes with grip on boardwalks and gravel

Parking & access tips
- Coastal bays are easier for vans than inland gorge roads — still use signed bays only.
- Do not block lookout turning circles.
- Unhitch if a bay is tight. This strip is van-friendlier, not a van park.
- Sunset fills the stacks. Arrive earlier than you think or pick one lookout.
Skip if short on time / energy
- Bigurda one-way without a written shuttle
- Any water’s-edge scramble
- Forcing every named lookout plus a pink-lake drive
- Adding the Loop “because we have time” in midday heat
Extra tips
Who this plan is for
- Van travellers who will not unhitch for inland gorge roads
- Heat days when the Loop is closed after 7 am
- Sunset and whale-season lookout groups
- Families who want drama without a gorge descent
Decision gates (say them out loud)
- If spray is on the boardwalk: reverse — the formed path is the visit
- If you have no pickup car: do not start Bigurda
- If someone wants the pink lake: that is a separate drive, not a park site
- If energy remains after Natural Bridge: add one lookout, not three
