How to get there

1. Pay at the Hawk’s Head–Ross Graham entry station. Display a valid inland day pass.
2. Do not confuse this road with the Loop/Z-Bend road. Different signed inland approach.
3. Unhitch caravans in town. Fill water in town. No tap at the carpark.
4. No dogs. Screenshot alerts before you leave town reception.

How to do it (step by step)

1. Use signed lookout and river-access paths only. Pair with Hawk’s Head lookout if energy remains.
2. River rocks are slippery. Grip shoes even for a short access path. Supervise children.
3. This is not a swimming-hole plan. After rain, flow and exits change.
4. This is not permission to start the unmarked 38 km gorge walk. That requires prior registration, a minimum experienced group (commonly 5), cooler months only, and is banned November–March — confirm with rangers on 08 9937 1140.
5. If the Loop is closed after 7 am, this is a good quieter inland stop — still carry water for the short climb back.

What to expect

Ross Graham is the family-scale inland stop: short lookout paths and the easiest official way down to the Murchison (about 700 m scale — verify live). You usually get fewer coaches than Nature’s Window and a closer, calmer look at the river.

It is still inland: day vehicle fee, no caravans, no drinking water, heat on the climb back. It is not a free coastal lookout.

A different inland road

Pay at the Hawk’s Head–Ross Graham entry station. This is not the Loop/Z-Bend road. A day pass is still the inland product.

Hawk’s Head is the lookout sibling on the same system. Pair them if energy remains; do not treat them as a gorge traverse.

River access without a swimming-hole fantasy

This is the place to let children touch the river on a signed path — with grip shoes, close supervision and no assumption that the water is a beach. River rock is slick. After rain, flow changes.

Heat on the short climb back still catches people who walked down in a breeze. Carry water from town.

The multi-day gorge walk is not this page

The unmarked Murchison River Gorge Walk is commonly described as about 38 km from Ross Graham toward the Loop, Class 5, typically 3–4 days. It requires prior registration at Kalbarri Park Headquarters, a minimum experienced group (commonly 5), cooler months only, and is banned November–March.

Call 08 9937 1140 well ahead. A PLB is essential. If you did not register, you do not start. There is no casual camping in the National Park.
