Day 1 inland icons. Day 2 either Loop (cool season / pre-7 am) or Z-Bend lookout + coast. Day 3 wildflowers or a quiet Ross Graham / Meanarra morning. Perth is 6–7.5 hours each way — do not pretend this is a Sydney-style day trip.

Kalbarri rewards a town base. A single Perth day trip burns the drive and steals cool hours. Two nights is the floor; three is better in wildflower season.
Split inland and coastal fee systems in your head. One inland day pass covers Window, Skywalk and Z-Bend the same day. Coastal lookouts are generally separate and free.
There is no casual camping in the National Park. Beds are town caravan parks, commercial stays, Lucky Bay (outside the NP) or stations.
Verify alerts each morning. Extra inland closures happen in extreme heat and during management programs.

Book town beds · do not promise a same-day Loop
Perth to Kalbarri is about 580–590 km / 6–7.5 hours. Arriving and starting the Loop the same afternoon in summer is how groups get into trouble. Shop water on arrival.
Day 0
Arrive Kalbarri · unhitch · shop water
Do not drive Perth + Loop the same day in summer. Shop 3–4 L/person for any Loop attempt tomorrow. Check alerts and Skywalk hours. Download Emergency+.
Day 1
Skywalk + Nature’s Window
Follow the inland icons day. Town lunch. Optional coastal sunset. This is the orientation day — not the day you invent Four Ways.
Day 2 cool season
Loop OR Z-Bend river — not both
Full Loop only with water, early start and (Nov–Mar) before 7 am. Otherwise Z-Bend lookout ± River Trail. Recovery afternoon in town. Do not stack Loop + Four Ways.
Day 2 heat / late start
Lookouts + coast (use the summer plan)
If you cannot start the Loop before 7 am, do not start it. Skywalk / Window-only / Ross Graham / Meanarra / coastal boardwalks.
Day 3
Wildflowers / Ross Graham / pink lake side trip
Meanarra Hill in bloom season (timing moves with rain), Ross Graham river access, or Hutt Lagoon (not in the park). Leave time for the Perth drive if departing.

- PLB if doing Loop or river trails

- Coastal bays are a different, generally free system — no second “coastal ticket.”

Decision gates (say them out loud)
- If Day 2 is November–March and you cannot start before 7 am: no Loop
- If anyone is cooked after Day 1: Day 2 becomes lookouts + coast
- If inland roads close: the coastal plan is the whole remaining stay
- If bloom is thin: Meanarra is still a hill lookout — gorge and coast remain the product

- Van never on inland gorge roads
- No casual camping attempted in the National Park

The full 9 km Loop continues along cliff edges, then into the gorge on rocky and sandy ground with little shade. Official: gorge temperatures can reach 50 °C; the Loop is closed after 7 am from November to March inclusive.

- Meanarra HillHill lookout with sandplain and town views. Inland fee area. A good August–October wildflower stop, and a lighter option when gorge walking is too hot.
